Writ A petition to a court for some extraordinary relief, such as asking the court to release a defendant from imprisonment. Jury commissioner An officer charged with the duty of selecting the names to be put into a jury wheel, or of drawing the panel of jurors for a particular term of court. Jurisprudence Formal study of the principles on which legal rules are based and the means by which judges guide their decision making. Accessory A person who assists in the commission of a crime, either before or after the fact. Admissible evidence Evidence, which can legally and properly is used in court.
